I started my own business already at the age of 19, creating a new category with a niche service that didn’t exist yet, but served the needs of an increasing number of consumers.
Looking back, my career after that first entrepreneurship has taken many different zig zagging turns as I simply wasn’t focussed on one single result and without any long-terms strategy I simply reacted to whatever crossed my path.
In my former job as a Senior Bid Manager I learned the alignment of those focused inward and those focused outward to achieve a winning customer focussed proposal for clients.
The urge to be more creative made me quit my corporate career at age 32, go back to school and start a new career as a designer.
However through the years my frustration grew as design projects rarely had a strategy behind them. I experienced that a branding strategy to most, was merely a logo, some matching colours, a website and maybe we even distilled three core values, which nobody really lived up to after launch.
The year before the pandemic I discovered how to utilise the extended variety of experiences I have gained over the years, to help others.
By re-examining who I am, what new value I can offer, what the world needs, I have re-designed my business model and offering during the pandemic.
I decided to help other entrepreneurs and SMB leaders with BRAND STRATEGY & DESIGN. I went back to learn more about brand strategy innovation and read everything I could on what it takes to create resilience and future proof your business for the new now.
To be a good Brand Strategist requires business skills and insight. Creating new strategies requires one to see the intangibles and connect the dots. My zig zagging career path has taught me a unique combination of commercial and creative skills. And with this unique skillset I wish to help others create a unique and memorable place in the market
I have since qualified as a Level C Brand Architect, certified by the acclaimed brand strategist Marty Neumeier. Marty has provided consulting services to companies the likes of Apple, Google, Microsoft, Skype, Twitter and Patagonia and has written several best selling books such as The Brand Gap, The Brand Flip, ZAG, Metaskills, The Designful Company and more. Today Marty is Director of CEO Branding at Liquid Agency and has founded Brand Education Program Level C together with his partner Andy Starr.
I am proud to have been challenged and accredited by Level C. As part of reaching my third badge, I spent 6+ months and many hours collaborating, swarming, thinking, looking, seeing, implicating, strategizing, pressure testing, designing, and blueprinting a new brand architecture for Dr. Oetker.
